Conour Animal Shelter burglarized again

MONTE VISTA — On Oct. 6, Conour Animal Shelter suffered its second break-in in less than a month. President of the animal shelter's Board of Directors, David Cleghorn said, ”It was about 12:30 a.m. that the suspect gained access to the building at 2825 Sherman Ave. using a crowbar on the office door. He came in, went around the counter, he had a flashlight, and shined his flashlight down underneath the counter. To me, it looked like he knew what he was doing, and we think it was probably the same suspect that broke in the first time.”

Judge to decide whether Jennifer Wilkie will get 274 animals returned to 1.2-acre property

ORANGE PARK – The county filed a petition last week to permanently remove 274 animals from a property littered with filth, rodents and urine and fecal contamination at home on Old Jennings Road. County Attorney Courtney Grimm also will ask a judge to require Jennifer Michelle Wilkie to pay for the costs incurred from a day-long rescue operation at the 1.2-acre lot and the care of the animals and to keep her from owning any other animals in the future.

All The Pets You Can Adopt From The Sedalia Animal Shelter Right Now

So every now and then, I'll take a second to look at the Sedalia Animal Shelter Facebook page. NOT THAT I NEED ANOTHER ANIMAL. Because I don't. I really, really don't. The two I have are more than enough. And they prove it every dang day by trying to either sit on my face or tear up my couch. But I do like to look. I just like to look at cute animals, no commitment. The other day, I saw that they uploaded a new video with a ton of cute kitties on it. I thought, well, jeez, how many animals do they have right now? Turns out, there are quite a few. 27 available for adoption, to be exact.

Remaining animals will not be euthanized while shelter temporarily closed

The Vernon Parish Animal Shelter stands firm that it will not be euthanizing any animals left in its kennels when the facility closes temporarily next month. Can Fostering Help Shelter Animals?

Animal shelters are full, they have no space, they often have no money, and they have a small amount of dedicated volunteers. Animals in the tri-state area are euthanized daily, rescue groups are unable to save as many lives as they wish, and animals spend years in boarding kennels while awaiting adopters to fall in love with them. Many of these boarding animals are forgotten. There is an estimated 3-4million pets euthanized each year in US animal shelters. That’s 10,000 per day on average. There must be a way to curb at least some of this. There is. Fostering.

Proposed animal shelter site appraised at $500k

NEWPORT — A draft lease agreement to be sent to Lincoln County for land to build a new animal shelter at Newport Airport proposes annual rent of $41,250. The city of Newport and Lincoln County entered a memorandum of understanding in January that outlined a process for negotiating a lease of a 5-acre site on the southwest corner of the airport, where the county plans to build a new animal shelter. Under that agreement, the county contracted for a survey that was provided to the city to obtain an appraisal, which was recently completed by Powell Banz Valuation, of Salem.
