Chipmaker AMD Clears Wall Street's Second-Quarter Hurdles

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) late Tuesday topped analyst expectations for the second quarter. AMD stock rose in extended trading. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company earned an adjusted 63 cents a share on sales of $3.85 billion in the June quarter. Analysts had forecast AMD earnings of 54 cents a share on sales of $3.62 billion. In the year-earlier quarter, AMD earned 18 cents a share on sales of $1.93 billion.
