Marion County’s new paramedicine program

A program designed to help mostly homebound Ocala residents struggling with new or chronic medical conditions will expand into Marion County. Ocala Fire Rescue began their community paramedicine program in April of 2020 in partnership with Advent Health. Ocala Fire Rescue EMS Captain Jesse Blaire heads up the OFR portion, and he said when they were coordinating and designing the program, he reached out to multiple agencies around the state to observe similar programs.

Mr. William Michael “Mike” Bowen, Mt. Moriah Community

Mr. William Michael “Mike” Bowen, age 72, of the Mt. Moriah Community, died Monday, October 11, 2021, at Advent Health in Orlando, Florida after a sudden illness. He was a lifelong resident of Mt. Moriah, a 1967 graduate of Lyons High School and he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He was a lifelong farmer, co-owner of Bowen Seed Farms and Watts Creek Farms, and after retirement, he worked with his sons at The Parts Farm. Mike served in the Army National Guard, was a lifetime member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church and served as Treasurer on the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Committee. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and hiking with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ross Patrick Bowen and Carolyn Elizabeth Palmer Bowen; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Shuman Bowen.

Two teenage girls transported to Shands after crashing into school bus, overturning truck on CR 464

Two teenage girls driving along County Road 464 had to be transported to Shands Pediatrics this morning after they attempted to pass a school bus and overturned their vehicle. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that at 8:40 a.m. this morning, a Ford Ranger being driven by a 16-year-old struck a school bus that was carrying 32 children. The accident occurred on CR 464, east of Locust Road in Marion County, according to the report.
