Mid-Era Jason Statham Movies

Tom Jolliffe looks at the middle era of Jason Statham movies (2010-2015)…. He’s follicly challenged, raspy voiced and a double hard bastard. No, he’s not Vin Diesel, he’s Britain’s own Jason Statham. Statham began his film career almost by accident, plucked from obscurity to star in Guy Ritchie’s breakout film, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Statham’s onscreen introduction saw him appear as a London street peddler selling stolen items. The swagger of his sales pitch to the on-looking crowds (shortly before the arrival of the police) felt authentic and indeed it was true to life for the ex-Diver. As part of a group of upcoming actors and cheeky chappies, Statham had a very definite presence. His career kicked on, further bolstered in his follow up with Guy Ritchie, taking on the lead role in Snatch.

One of Liam Neeson's Worst Action Films Is Currently Dominating on Netflix

How do you measure true star power in an entertainment market that's heavily driven by intellectual property and popular brands? Well, what if an actor's face is enough to get people to check out a movie they've probably never heard of, in spite of bad reviews? If that's the definition, then congratulations are in order to Liam Neeson, whose 2021 flop The Marksman is burning up the charts over on Netflix this week, sitting at #7 in the U.S. down from #6 earlier in the week, in spite of having made only about $22 million when it was in theaters back in January.

Copshop – Pulpy 70s Action Makes A Star With Alexis Louder [Review]

2021’s release schedule for films seems to be separated into two categories: movies that were delayed or pushed back from 2020 and movies that release under the radar and surprise greatly. Copshop is the latter. It has a star studded cast highlighted by: Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder, Toby Huss, Chad L. Coleman, and Ryan O’Nan. It’s in the cast where the movie really shines. It’s helped out by a great script full of snappy dialogue and tense, albeit muted until the conclusion, action. Kurt McLeod and Joe Carnahan took a story from Mark Williams and Carnahan also directs.

8 '90s Action Movie Remakes I'd Like To See Happen

A lot of the best action movies (in my opinion) that I can think of, came out in the 1990s, such as Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Michael Mann’s Heat, and Speed, just to name a few. However, I also believe that the decade is littered with films that, while still enjoyable to many action junkies, missed the mark of what they could have been due to egregiously cliche-ridden camp, or could be ready for a reintroduction to the mainstream for a new generation of moviegoers. The following are the ‘90s action movies I believe are most deserving of a revisit, starting with the first of a few Sylvester Stallone classics on our list.

‘Malignant’ is the best horror film of the year so far

“Malignant” is written and directed by James Wan (writer/director of “The Conjuring 1 & 2,” “Saw 1 & 2,” and “Aquaman”) and stars Annabelle Wallis (“Annabelle”) as Madison, a woman who is paralyzed by shocking visions of grisly murders, and her torment worsens as she discovers that these waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.
