Syracuse Basketball: Orange junior center ‘poised to have a breakout year’

A season ago, Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim was fairly consistent in his constructive criticism of the team’s centers. During his post-game Zoom press conferences, Boeheim would often say that his centers simply weren’t ready to produce in a big-time way against rugged competition in the Atlantic Coast Conference, as well as opponents from other leagues.

William F. Gottheld, 21

William Frederick Gottheld passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 9, 2021. He was born March 9, 2000, the son of Jeffrey Scott and Pamela (Kirschenheiter) Gottheld. Will attended F-M Schools and graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 2018, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Young Conservatives Club, the varsity lacrosse team, the varsity soccer team and he participated in many different school events and causes.

Syracuse men's basketball receives 2021-22 ACC schedule

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its 2021-22 men's basketball schedule on Thursday night. Syracuse will open a 20-game conference slate when Jim Boeheim and Co. travel to Florida State on Dec. 4. Then the ACC slate kicks up in full on Dec. 29 starting with a home game against Georgia Tech.

Former UNC Guard Andrew Platek Enrolls at Siena

Former North Carolina guard Andrew Platek has enrolled at Siena College in his home state of New York, according to the school's student directory. After graduating from UNC this summer, Platek entered the transfer portal in August and has one season of eligibility remaining thanks to the rule put in place by the NCAA for the COVID-19 season in 2020-21.

Syracuse’s 2021-22 men’s basketball schedule revealed: Orange opens ACC with FSU on road

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The ACC released its men’s basketball schedule Thursday night, which means we learned specifics about Syracuse’s conference schedule. The Orange opens its season Nov. 9 with a home game against Lafayette of the Patriot League. It plays Virginia Commonwealth in the first game of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 24. It faces Indiana in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Nov. 30. It plays Villanova in the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 7.
