Christmas Cups are Back at Starbucks!

(ROWLETT, TX) Merry Coffee, everyone! Christmas cups are back at Starbucks – a time to rejoice!. The most wonderful time of the year began yesterday, when I went to Starbucks in Rowlett and was greeted by the most beautiful site: Christmas decorations everywhere. The shelves by the door were filled with a display of holiday mugs, cups and ornaments; there were red velvet bows everywhere; and the entire menu was turned red.

Pumpkin Nights Comes to Texas!

(ARLINGTON, TX) OK, I’ll admit it: going to a pumpkin patch at night is weird. And a little creepy. When we drove up to Pumpkin Nights in Arlington at 7 p.m., with a two-year-old and 8-month-old in tow, I was a little worried. Would they be scared by the giant Jack-O-Lanterns or fire dancers?

How to Survive the State Fair of Texas With Kids

(DALLAS, TX) It’s hot. It’s crowded. But it’s unbelievably fun – the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park in Dallas (open through Oct. 20) is one of the most anticipated events of the year. But if you have kids, it can be challenging. How do you keep them entertained? Where do you nurse babies? Is it worth it? After going this year, I have a few tips to keep you sane! First step: visit the Little Hands on the Farm exhibit inside the Coliseum, designed for kids up to ten years old. Here, your little ones can don an apron and learn how farms work. Gathering eggs, harvesting crops and even driving a tiny tractor will make any little one happy! At the end, the kids can use their farm “earnings” to buy a snack!

Jesse's Girl Boutique is a Great Fall Shopping Experience

(GREENVILLE, TX) Football, pumpkins and Jesus - what more could you want out of a store? At Jesse's Girl Boutque in Greenville, you can score a heather grey shirt that says “Are You Ready for Some Football” with a picture of a fierce leopard-print football on front, or a peach shirt with butterflies that reads “In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.” Not interested? There are plenty more adorable shirts, accessories and decor to choos from! Walk in and you’ll see a big pink wall with metallic gray letters spelling out “Jessie’s Girl.” On the floor are pretty multi-colored rugs, pink chairs, and chic décor and designs that fill the walls (some of which are for sale). This quaint shop features unique T-shirts, handcrafted fall décor, beautiful necklaces and earrings, and even vegan nail polish!

Beat the Heat at the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum

(COMMERCE, TX) It’s unusually hot for September, which means park days and zoo trips are a no-go for this mama (sorry kids, I don’t do sweat and sunburns!). However, there is a way to keep your kids entertained during the long, late-summer days: take them to the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum!

Hubbard's Cafe Offers Breakfast With a Side of Southern Charm in Rowlett

(ROWLETT, TX) I like my pancakes with a side of friendly smiles and old fashioned Southern charm, thank you very much. Rowlett has many places to grab a quick breakfast - Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, Chick-fil-A - but sometimes, you just want to sit back and enjoy your cup of joe over a nice hot meal. That’s where Hubbard’s Cafe comes in.

PSA: Pumpkins Are Back at Hobby Lobby!

(ROCKWALL, TX) Y'all. PUMPKINS. ARE. BACK. Yes, I realize we've just hit our first 100 degree day, and you literally can't walk outside to get the mail without sweat dripping down your back. But there is something about seeing those orange, sparkly pumpkins at Hobby Lobby that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside - it's like drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte without the calories.

Even the ducks love playing at Rockwall’s The Park at Fox Chase!

(ROCKWALL, TX) “Quack, quack, quack,” said my toddler excitedly as he spotted ducks in the distance. We were under the shady gazebo at The Park at Fox Chase on a hot Sunday afternoon, getting sunscreen on. Pretty soon, his quacks were echoed by actually duck sounds — the flock was waddling out of the nearby pond to see what we were doing!

2-Year-Old Learns to Swim, Survive and Have Fun in the Water at Rockwall Swim School

(ROCKWALL, TX) You won’t find kids sitting around blowing bubbles for an hour or swimming with floaties all day at Rockwall Swim School. That’s because this program was founded by two-time Olympic gold medal winner Neil Walker, who equally believes in sharing his love of swimming with others and teaching everyone from tots to adults how to swim with good form.

Rowlett Chick-Fil-A Serves Chicken, Smiles and Scholarships

Photo of 2019 $2,500 Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship winners. Picture taken by Rowlett Chick-fil-A. (Rowlett, TX) Saying “My pleasure” may be a job requirement, but the friendly attitudes and happy personalities of Chick-fil-A employees are real – at least, at the Rowlett Chick-fil-A. Just take it from Summer Walker, a current junior director at this location who is the fourth sibling in a row to work here!

Garland’s Coomer Park is Fun for the Family - During the Day

(GARLAND, TX) When strapping your baby in the carseat means hysterical screaming, crying and general unpleasantness will occur until you reach your destination (from the baby and the parents), you try to avoid it when you can. That’s why I wanted to find a nearby neighborhood park that I could go to without the stress of a long trip.
