GOODYEAR, Ariz. - An arrest has been made in connection to a bank robbery in Goodyear - but in this case, police say the suspect wanted to go to jail. El Mirage Police release edited video of 2 officers shooting armed man

EL MIRAGE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — The El Mirage Police Department released edited body-cam videos that showed the shooting of an armed man last month. In the video posted on YouTube, Police say it all started when a homeowner in the area of El Mirage and Cactus roads said a man was at their front door around 2 a.m. on Aug. 10. Security camera video shows the man checking to see if the security door was unlocked and then flipped off the camera. The man, later identified as 21-year-old Johan Alexis Salazar, was spotted nearby by an officer after Salazar matched the homeowner's description of the man at their door. Body-cam video shows Salazar greeting the officer before walking away. The officer asks him to stop but Salazar continues walking. "We got a call and you match the description," the officer said.

Scottsdale police investigating after guns brought to Sonoran Sky Elementary

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- Scottsdale police are investigating after a student allegedly brought two handguns to Sonoran Sky Elementary on Tuesday. In a letter sent home to parents, the Paradise Valley Unified School District said that school administrators were notified "well after school ended" of weapons being brought to campus. School officials say there were no threats of violence or any indication that anyone was in danger. The school district says Scottsdale police are investigating.

Arizona woman accused of fatally sedating 2 daughters

PHOENIX — An Arizona woman is accused of fatally sedating her two young daughters with over-the-counter and prescription drugs, authorities said. Retta Renee Cruse, 35, of Phoenix, was booked on two charges of first-degree murder on Tuesday, according to Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office online booking records. She is accused of the deaths of her children, Royal McIntyre, 4, and Aleyah McIntyre, 9, KNXV reported. The children were found unresponsive in a bed in a home last week, the television station reported.
