Sheriff: Man found dead in Brazoria County after possible home invasion

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas — A man was found dead in a home early Saturday morning, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said they received multiple calls reporting a possible home invasion and gunshots at around 2:52 a.m. on Ocean Boulevard in Treasure Island. When they arrived, deputies found a 45-year-old man dead inside the home.

SH-288 expansion project in Brazoria County

BC to celebrate Black History Month during the month of February

Brazosport College will celebrate Black History Month throughout the month of February with a variety of events and discussions. The busy month begins with a kickoff celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 1 on campus in front of Bonnen Central and will conclude with a Colonial Black Women Lunch & Learn event on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

4 Southeast Texas tornadoes confirmed in Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Liberty counties

HOUSTON - Four tornadoes roared across Southeast Texas on Tuesday, leaving damage across multiple counties, the National Weather Service confirms. On the southeast side of Harris County, a strong tornado damaged homes and businesses and downed power lines. Another was confirmed to the northeast in Liberty County. The agency also confirmed two weaker tornadoes in Fort Bend County and Brazoria County.

​The fair began in 1938 and was held at facilities in Runge Park located in Arcadia, Texas. In the early 1980s, the County Fair had reached its limits of growth at Runge Park and plans began for a move to Jack Brooks Park located in Hitchcock, Texas. The move to Jack Brooks Park was completed in time for the 1984 Fair, and this is where the fairgrounds are currently located. Vision Duo to merge the sounds of violin and percussion in Feb. 6 concert

The Clarion at Brazosport College is pleased to bring the talents of Vision Duo to Lake Jackson on Feb. 6 for a concert highlighting classical works with a contemporary twist. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature violinist Ariel Horowitz and percussionist Britton-René Collins. The pair will explore musical genres and sonic possibilities for violin and percussion while contributing to the ongoing redefinition of classical music programming and structures.

Search for missing Texas kayaker ends after body found near West Bay

GALVESTON ISLAND – The Coast Guard has ended the search for a kayaker who disappeared near Galveston Island after a man’s body was recovered. USCG officials had been searching for 49-year-old Barry Baham, who was kayaking near Jamaica Beach and was supposed to return by 4 p.m. Friday. Authorities said he was last seen leaving north of Jamaica Beach in a 12-14 foot white kayak.
