Amtrak Announces Service Restoration as part of Summer Schedule

Washington, (D.C.) - With demand for travel steadily returning, Amtrak announced today that it will return four long distance trains to daily service in May, return Northeast Regional frequencies to nearly 80% of pre-pandemic service levels, and restore additional service on two State-supported corridors. A traffic stop leads to drug related arrest

A recent traffic stop in Summers County led to a drug-related arrest. According to the criminal complaint, two officers conducted a traffic stop in the Talcott area on Monday, May 9, due to the vehicle owner being wanted in by parole. The criminal complaint states that officers spoke with the passenger and owner of the vehicle, Charlie Kristina Garten, 32, of Pence Springs, and gained permission to search said vehicle. While searching, officers found two clear bags containing a powder substance. According to the officer's notes in the criminal complaint, officers believe the substance to be fentanyl heroin. Students use ‘skip day’ to raise money for injured classmate

HINTON, W.Va. (WVVA) - Seniors at Summers County High sacrificed time off to relax from school to instead raise money for a classmate recently injured in a crash. Nick Gill and his family were airlifted to a Charleston hospital after they were involved in a crash on Airport Road in Beaver on Sunday.

Traffic stop results in seizure of $8500 in drugs

HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Summers County Sheriff’s Department reported the seizure of large quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Monday. In conducting a joint patrol of the Lowell area in Summers County, Sheriff Faris and Trooper Woods conducted a traffic stop during which large amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine were seized.

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice visited Summers County on Wednesday, May 4, to talk about the extensive renovations to Pipestem Park.
