Watertown man receives jail time for abusing wife

JUNEAU—A 57-year-old Watertown man will serve time in jail for misdemeanor battery for abusing his wife. Dennis Saxby entered a no contest plea Tuesday to three misdemeanor counts of battery and two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct. Oconomowoc Common Council to look at plan to control deer population

OCONOMOWOC — The Common Council will consider a deer management strategic plan Oct. 4, according to Oconomowoc Mayor Bob Magnus. The Committee of the Whole previously discussed the topic with no motion on Sept. 6. The proposal would allow hunting on certain city owned land to control and manage the abundance of deer that are in the city limits. The current ordinance does not allow for deer or small game hunting on city lands.

Update: The Jefferson County Scanner Facebook page has reported that the fire in the 400 block of Edward St., Fort Atkinson, has rekindled. The Fort Atkinson Fire Department has responded to a call of “flames showing on the second floor.” The scanner posted its update at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Watertown man arrested for seventh OWI offense

A Watertown man was arrested late Sunday for his seventh driving drunk offense. Justin Ready, 45, was allegedly stopped by a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper at 11:12 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 39/90/94 in Dane County, according to a release from the Wisconsin State Patrol DeForest Post. Ready was pulled over for a lane deviation. During the stop, a trooper observed signs of impairment. Officials say after administering standardized field sobriety tests, Ready was taken into custody for operating while under the influence-seventh offense, according to a release from the Wisconsin State Patrol DeForest Post. No court date has been set for Ready.

Multiple agencies respond to fire at Fort Atkinson home

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Over a dozen agencies responded to a fire late Wednesday morning at a home in Fort Atkinson. The Fort Atkinson Fire Department responded to the fire on the 400 block of Edwards Street and called in other departments to assist. WATERTOWN, Wis. — Deputies in Jefferson County are searching for an inmate who they said walked away from a worksite Monday. Ryan Wolter, 30, is part of the county’s Huber program, meaning he has work release privileges. Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials said Wolter did not return after working in Watertown Monday. He reportedly has several ties to the area.
