BURLINGTON, WIS. — Nestle USA has unveiled plans to invest $70 million to make over its facility in Burlington. The plant, which for many years produced candy bars such as 100 Grand, Nestle Crunch and Buncha Crunch, will be retooled to begin production of Nestle Toll House refrigerated cookie dough.

7-26-21 missing teen found safe in dodge county

A missing teenage boy has been found safe in Dodge County. Shortly before 7pm Sunday the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing 14-year-old who had left Crystal Lake Beach Park in the town of Beaver Dam. The high-functioning special needs child left the area about an hour before this was reported to law enforcement. After a brief search, Dodge County’s Child Abduction Response Team (CART) was activated to assist with the search. A thorough search of the area was conducted and then expanded utilizing the sheriff’s office and Beaver Dam Police Department drones. Eventually, a tip was received that the subject had walked to the Wild Goose Trail near State Highway 33 and State Highway 26. The subject then walked into a cornfield which complicated the search further. The sheriff’s office UTV along with the Horicon and Juneau Fire Department UTVs were deployed along with fire department lighting equipment. Three hours later the missing teen was located in a tree stand in the middle of a cornfield.

New Upscale Mexican Restaurant Opens

Brady Street’s small plates restaurant The Diplomat has officially set a reopening date. The restaurant will hold its first post-pandemic service on July 28 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reopening will include some familiar faces from Milwaukee’s dining scene as The Diplomat’s Chef Dane Baldwin will be joined by Chef Joe Schreiter (former executive chef at Mistral), Chef Andrew Fisher (former corporate chef at Alto-Shaam) and General Manager Vince Halpin (former general manager of Mr. B’s — A Bartolotta Steakhouse). The menu will be small and feature seasonal fare, utilizing local produce and offering signature Wisconsin dishes.

Bridge rehabilitation underway for County A

Rehabilitation work started Monday on the County Highway A bridge over 1-94. County A is closed and detoured until October. The signed detour route follows County Road V, County Road B and County Road Q. During that time, crews will replace the concrete bridge deck, make concrete surface repairs, repaint the steel girders over I-94 and regrade the County A approaches to the structure.
