Elected officials formally request independent investigation into Mikayla Miller’s death

WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) and Boston City Councilor Lydia Edwards, along with Suffolk County Sheriff Steven Tompkins, State Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz, State Reps. Nika Elugardo, Brandy Fluker Oakley, Russell Holmes, Liz Miranda, and Boston City Councilors At-Large Annissa Essaibi-George, Michelle Wu, and Julia Mejia, and Boston City Councilors Ricardo Arroyo and Andrea Campbell, sent a letter to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan requesting a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation into the recent death of Mikayla Miller, a 16-year-old Hopkinton resident who was found dead in the woods not far from her home on April 18.
