Board receives exemption forms

PINEDALE – The Lovatt Room was silent for several minutes. Humming fans and flipping pages echoed throughout the Pinedale Library’s southern meeting room. All five members of the Sublette County Board of Commissioners thumbed through the pages of oil and gas producers seeking exemptions from monthly ad valorem payments. There were nine of them. The weight of the decision followed along with each company’s name. As did the importance of the decision – schools, rec centers, libraries – all with funding hanging in the balance.

Shredding the dirt

PINEDALE – Dirt bikes growled to life, kicking up dust devils on the sunbaked racetrack at Sagebrush Downs in Cora on Saturday, June 12. Motorcross racers from across the region entered the 2021 EnduroCross, organized by Snow Explorers/Altitude Off-Road Inc. of Sublette County, to compete for a spot on the podium.

At one point, it appeared that local cowboy Phil Selby’s beautiful, kind bay gelding Woodrow brought $30,000 but a bidding-war snafu negated the top bid and Selby took his best horse back home.

Boulder Roll returns

SUBLETTE COUNTY – The open air slamming against the riders became a welcome reprieve from the glaring sun beating overhead. It was the annual Boulder Roll, held on June 12 throughout Sublette County, and the temperatures didn’t subside after the opening prayer at Pinedale’s VFW Club. Breaking with tradition, that’s where this year’s roll started. Keeping with tradition, those gathered got on their bikes (or classic cars) and rode in honor of lives lost to suicide.
