Police: Bridgeport man accused of mistakenly killing best friend

BRIDGEPORT — A city man is accused of mistakenly killing his best friend who he mistook for a man who had shot him last year, according to police. Eric Ayala, 22, of William Place, was brought back from New York where police said he had fled after being questioned by detectives, and was arraigned Friday afternoon on charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.

New Italian restaurant opens at Norwalk hotel

NORWALK — Pasquale Conte wants to welcome guests into his restaurants like he’s welcoming them into his home. “It’s all about hospitality. You have to feel comfortable,” said Conte, owner of the new Siena Ristorante with his partner Pietro Polini at Hotel Zero Degrees at 353 Main Ave. in Norwalk. It’s the restaurant’s second location, the first being in Stamford and open since 1997.

Police: One shot after fight in Waterbury parking lot

WATERBURY — One person was wounded when a fight led to gunfire in a local parking lot early Thursday, according to police. Lt. Robert Davis said police officers responded to St. Mary’s Hospital around 12:30 a.m. after a call about a man that walked into the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the left hand.

Assisted Living Facility Employees Overdosed on the Job: Police

East Haven, Conn. police are investigating after two assisted living facility employees overdosed on fentanyl while on the job Wednesday. According to police, a visiting nurse who stopped by to check on one of her patients at the Caroline Manor Assisted Living facility on Clark Avenue found the two employees overdosing on what investigators later determined was fentanyl.
