Suspicious death investigation underway in Dexter

Authorities in Stoddard County are investigating a suspicious death. Dexter Chief of Police Hank Trout reports that officers responded to a location on Condor Drive Monday for a medical assist call of a cardiac arrest. The 49-year-old male victim was transported to a Dexter hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified. Trout says that the Stoddard County Major Case Squad has been activated due to the death being suspicious. An autopsy has been scheduled for today in Farmington.

Stoddard County man pleads guilty in 2018 deadly stabbing

A Stoddard County man has pleaded guilty to murder charges in a 2018 deadly stabbing. On June 28, 2018, Josh Koonce was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action for the stabbing death of Jimmy Casey at this home in Dexter. Koonce was charged after fleeing to Colorado soon after the incident. His case was scheduled for jury trial on November 29 and was to last the entire week. Koonce is scheduled to be sentenced on February 1, 2022 in Bloomfield at 1 p.m. For the murder charge, he faces no less than 10 years and up to a sentence of life imprisonment. For the armed criminal action charge, he faces three to 15 years of imprisonment, which is statutorily required to be served consecutive to the murder charge.

Dexter woman arrested on felony drug charge

Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested a Dexter woman on a felony drug charge. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 28-year-old Brittany Smith was taken into custody Friday night on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance for meth. Smith also had a warrant out of Stoddard County for property damage. Following the arrest, she was held at the Stoddard County Jail.

Joshua Koonce pled guilty Monday to the stabbing death of Jimmy Casey. Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Russ Oliver said in a news release that Koonce entered the guilty plea 30 minutes before the trial was scheduled to begin and the state extended no plea bargain to the defense. Two defendants in separate murder cases bound over for trial

Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Russ Oliver announced two Defendants, charged with two separate murders, have been bound over to stand trial. Elizabeth Bridges is charged in connection with her participation in the July 10, 2021 murder of Randy Thomas in Hayti. She is charge of first degree murder, felony murder, armed criminal action, 2 counts of felony tampering with physical evidence, and leaving the scene of an accident. Her preliminary hearing was held yesterday and the court ruled in favor of the State and Bridges was bound over to stand trial in Division 1. Bridges is scheduled to appear in court again on December 21, 2021 in Pemiscot County. In the Stoddard County Case involving the November 5, 2021 homicide of Frank Morris near Dexter, Boyd Lippoldt was charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action, felony of driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence. Lippoldt appeared in court on Friday, November 12, 2021, waived his preliminary hearing and was bound over and ordered to stand trial. Lippoldt’s next court date is on November 22, 2021.

DEXTER — A Dexter man was ordered Friday to stand trial in the Nov. 5 death of another man near Dexter. Stoddard County Prosecutor Russ Oliver originally charged Boyd Lippoldt with the Class A felony of first-degree murder, the unclassified felony of armed criminal action, the Class B felony of driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another, the Class D felony of possession of a controlled substance and the Class E felony of tampering with physical evidence.

Dexter man facing murder charge after allegedly hitting someone with his vehicle

A Dexter man is facing a murder charge following an incident on Friday. Stoddard County Chief Deputy Sheriff Andy Holden reports that shortly before 5p.m. on Friday, deputies were dispatched to a truck repair business near the intersection of US Highway 60 and County Road 517. They found 32-year-old Franklin Morris dead at the scene. The Stoddard County Major Case Squad was activated and an investigation led to the arrest of 41-year-old Boyd Lippoldt, of Dexter. Lippoldt is alleged to have intentionally struck Morris with a vehicle and then moving the vehicle in an attempt to conceal evidence. Lippoldt is facing charges of 1st-degree murder, armed criminal action, possession of meth, and driving while intoxicated causing a death. Holden says that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
