UAB Drops Match at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. – The UAB rifle team fell 4,612-4,542 to Georgia Southern on Saturday at the Eagles' Shooting Sports Education Center. Sophia Flores paced the Blazers with a sixth-place overall finish with an aggregate score of 1,139. Flores tallied UAB's top marks in the smallbore and air rifle, finishing fourth in the air rifle with a score of 578 and seventh in the smallbore with a tally of 561.

Tigers to face Bucs in Jungle on Friday

The number-four ranked Metter Tigers will be back in action this Friday night as they welcome the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers into The Jungle for a big region game. The Tigers come into the match-up with a record of 6-0 overall and 3-0 in region play. The Buccaneers are 2-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the region. Both teams will be coming off of a bye week.

Stephanie Mixcoatl and Nikola Kaczor registered two goals and one assist each for Garfield in its 7-3 victory against Manchester Regional in Haledon. Julia Piszczatowski, Beatriz Mendes and Christohia Green each had one goal for Garfield. Piszczatowski, Reka Karacsony, Victoria Villegas, Josalyn Chacon and Siena Cortez logged one assist apiece in the win as Green and Taylor Peterson split the time in net.

Panthers continue dream season

The Portal Panthers hosted their first ever state playoff game and it was an electric atmosphere. The Panthers kept their fans cheering to the end as they won Game 1 9-2 and then had to come back from a 4-2 deficit before rallying for four runs in the top of the seventh and taking Game 2 6-4 advancing to the second round of the state Class-A playoffs.

Jackets sweep through Brantley County

The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets found themselves in a familiar position Wednesday as the No. 1 seed hosting a frisky No. 4 seed in Brantley County. The Jackets needed extra inning to put the Herons away in Game 1 as they won 2-1 in 10 innings, and then cruised to a 9-1 victory in a run-rule shortened Game 2.
