At least 5 injured after powerful tornado rips through Pennsylvania

A powerful tornado ripped through eastern Pennsylvania on Thursday night — injuring at least five people and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Storms barreled through Bucks County, with two separate tornadoes touching down — and one of them devastated the town of Bensalem, the Bucks County Courier Times reported.

Footage captured the frightening moment when a tornado hit a car dealership in Pennsylvania and ripped off its roof. The Courier Times reports that the second of two tornados touched down in Bensalem shortly after 7 p.m. where the auto dealership was located. Joanne Szupka recalled what occurred inside the dealership as the tornado wrecked havoc while she hid underneath a desk. “I heard the alarm on my phone and it was seconds later that we felt something happening to the building,” Szupka said, adding, “The whole thing lasted like 90 seconds.”

UTV driver killed in Bradford Co. crash

MONROETON, PA (WENY) -- A man was killed after hitting a large truck on Route 220 in Monroeton Thursday afternoon. According to Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda, 73-year old Vincent J. Sabonis of Bristol, PA, was killed. Troopers say Sabonis was driving a utility task vehicle around 12:15 p.m., when he entered SR 220 from an "improper location" in front of a large truck. The crash happened just north of Kellogg Road.

SEVERE WEATHER: Tornado Warnings in Much of NJ; Twister Strikes Pennsylvania

UPDATE 8:54 PM: Two tornados were reportedly spotted on the ground – one in Monmouth County, one in southern Ocean County. No further details available yet. UPDATE 8:31: Tornado warnings in the Lakewood area have expired, but the threat of severe weather remains. A Severe Thunderstorm warning is in effect until 9 PM, and a Flash Flood warning is in effect until 11 PM.
