Driver Allegedly Hits, Drags Oakdale Officer 30 Yards Before Speeding Away

OAKDALE (CBS13) – Authorities are searching for a driver who sped away after hitting an Oakdale police officer, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday. At around 12:30 p.m., a call was received regarding a person who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel while parked in front of the Save Mart on East F Street. Deputies arrived and attempted to contact the driver through the driver’s side door, which was open. Christopher Milchen, 36 (credit: Oakdale Police Departmetn)) The driver—who was identified by police as 36-year-old Christopher Milchen—woke up and immediately put the car in reverse, deputies said. According to the sheriff’s office, the officer was pinned against the open driver’s side door and then dragged about 30 yards. The officer’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening, but serious. Milchen reportedly then took off toward the area of East Sierra Avenue and South Magg Avenue, where he got out and decided to take off on foot.

Traffic stop turns into meth arrest

A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Newman man after officers found a large quantity of marijuana in his vehicle. In addition to drug charges, the suspect, identified as Ronny Soares, 48, of Newman, also was arrested for child endangerment because he had an unrestrained toddler in the car with him, according to the Newman Police Department.

Drug deal at east Modesto shopping center leads to 8 pounds of cocaine, police say

Modesto police Monday announced the seizure of about eight pounds of cocaine and the arrests of three men suspected of dealing the drug. A news release said the first arrest happened shortly after investigators observed a transaction Thursday in the parking lot of the Century Center shopping center. They were at the Oakdale Road location as part of a months-long probe, police said.

An adult male was located suffering from life-threatening burns on the front of his body. The male was transported by medical helicopter to an out-of-county hospital.

Child Airlifted To Hospital After Modesto Crash Involving Deputy

MODESTO (CBS13) — A crash involving a Stanislaus County Sheriff patrol car and two other vehicles led to a child being airlifted to the hospital Sunday night. The crash happened a little after 9:30 a.m. near College and Orangeburg avenues in Modesto. Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but authorities say the sheriff’s deputy was en route to a call when the accident happened. Three vehicles were involved in the crash and the patrol car suffered significant damage, authorities say. The child was airlifted to the hospital as a precaution. No other details about the crash have been released at this point.

MODESTO – A man was flown by helicopter for care after he woke with life-threatening burn injuries to the front of his body. At about 9:30am Monday, deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 600 block of South Seventh Street for a report of a burn victim. Modesto man sentenced for striking, killing wife with a hammer in 2018

A Modesto man was sentenced July 6 to 19 years to life in prison for the 2018 murder of his wife, the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office said. Kelvin Lee Simpson, 55, killed 47-year-old Shannon Simpson by striking her in the head with a hammer multiple times, the DA’s office said. She died of blunt force trauma April 3, 2018, in the couple’s home in the 1500 block of Coffee Villa Drive.
