Police: Aggressive Driving Leads to Death of Old Orchard Beach Man

A man from Old Orchard Beach was killed Thursday morning when he unsafely tried to merge into the passing lane of Interstate 95 in Sidney, according to police. Miles Ranger, 52, was "driving aggressively" while attempting to merge his pickup into the northbound passing lane in front of another vehicle driven by a Brian Landry, 58, of Fairfield, police said.

AUBURN — A fire that swept through an apartment building last week displacing more than a dozen tenants was accidental, fire officials said Thursday. Driver in Down East logging truck crash recovering from burns at Portland hospital

A Greenbush man who was injured early Wednesday in a collision that killed another driver on Route 9 in Crawford is recovering at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Kenneth C. Stairs, 59, suffered second- and third-degree burns in the crash and was flown by Lifeflight helicopter to the Portland hospital on Wednesday from Calais Community Hospital, where he had been taken by ambulance from the crash scene, according to his daughter, Brynn McLeod of Island Falls.
