NEW FAIRFIELD — A teen driver was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday evening on Route 39. Emergency personnel responded to the area of the Lavelle Avenue intersection around 9:20 p.m. and found a heavily damaged 2012 Honda Civic with the driver — later identified by police as a 17-year-old from Sherman — trapped inside.

An 8-year-old boy was critically hurt after a car struck him while backing out of a Bronx driveway Tuesday, cops said. The boy was playing on a sidewalk on Webster Ave. near Ittner Place in Mt. Bronx Cyclist Dies in Solo Crash Inside Van Cortlandt Park

A Bronx cyclist is dead, apparently of blunt-force trauma, after falling off her bicycle in Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, police said. Jian Hua Li, 56, of 3400 Paul Ave. in the borough’s Bedford Park section, was cycling north on a two-way park path having entered the park at Dickinson Avenue Friday afternoon at around 12:30 when she apparently crashed and fell off her bike. She was found by passersby lying on the roadway unconscious and unresponsive, with head trauma, cops said. Police said she was not wearing a helmet. BROOKFIELD — A lightning strike set a tree on fire in the woods about 1,000-feet off the road during the storms that hit the state on Monday morning.
