JOE DRIVE WHEN STEVEN MONIA DROVE HIS 2017 TOYOTA COROLLA OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STRUCK A CONCRETE PYLON SUPPORT. ASSISTANT CORONER GREGORY ARMSTRONG PRONOUNCED MONIA DEAD AT THE SCENE AT 10:02 TUESDAY.

Smith in Court Over Assault

(Desloge, MO) A man from park Hills, Brian D. Smith, has his initial appearance in St. Francois County court scheduled for July 21st on Charges of kidnapping and burglary, both first degree offenses, and second degree domestic assault. Reports show Smith is alleged to have held a woman in an apartment on Highley Lane in September of last year and assaulted her. Smith was arrested over the weekend and was booked into the St. Francois County jail on $100,000 bond. He has posted bond and been released.

Park Hills Man Dies in Wreck

(Park Hills, MO) A Park Hills man, 29 year old Steven R. Monia, is dead after he was involved in a one car accident in St. Francois County Tuesday morning. Highway Patrol records show Monia was driving north on St. Joe Drive, south of Parkway Drive just before 10 o'clock, when his car ran off the right side of the road and smashed into a concrete pylon. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Monia was not wearing a seat belt when the wreck took place.

Leadwood Man Charged with Molestation

(St. Francois County, MO) A man from Leadwood, 38 year old Leonard Gerald Wilson Jr., has a court date of June 21st for his initial appearance in St. Francois County Court after he was charged with child molestation in the first degree with a victim under the age of 12. Reports indicate Wilson is alleged to have sexually molested the victim in 2018. It's alleged Wilson had relations with the victim when she was 6 years old. Wilson was taken into custody and booked into the St. Francois County Jail with a $150,000 bond.

Motorcycle Hits Deer in Accident

(St. Francois County, MO) A man from Alton, Ill, 41 year old Steven G. Koening, is suffering serious injuries. He was hurt in a motorcycle accident Sunday in St. Francois County. Highway Patrol reports show Koening was headed west on Highway 221, at Henson Road at about 1:45 am. A Deer got into the path of Koenig's motorcycle and was hit. Koening, who was not wearing a helmet during the accident, was flown to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
