One dead in Kenockee Township rollover crash

One person is dead after an early morning rollover crash in Kenockee Township Sunday, Aug. 7. A driver was travelling near Duce and Beard Road shortly after 4:15 a.m. when they reportedly swerved to avoid a deer on the road, according to the St. Clair County Office of the Sheriff.

Annual Find the Cure 5k Run & Walk Scheduled

PORT HURON, Michigan – The Dementia & Alzheimer’s Resource Committee of St. Clair County has announced the date for its annual Alzheimer’s Find the Cure 5K run and walk. The run/walk will take place on Sunday, September 18, 2022. On-site registration begins at 10:30 a.m., however participants can register early by visiting and searching Find the Cure. Cost for the event is $30; those who register prior to September 2, will receive a moisture wicking shirt.

Three arrested in two Port Huron drug raids

Three Port Huron residents are facing multiple charges following a pair of recent drug raids in the city. At 8 p.m. Aug. 2, the St. Clair County Drug Task Force concluded an investigation into methamphetamine sales in the Port Huron area with the execution of a search warrant at a residence on the 1600 block of Wells Street.

In St. Clair County, voters approve five separate millage requests

St. Clair County voters appear to have been in a generous mood on election day. They approved five separate millage requests. Three of the millage requests were renewals: St. Clair County Community College’s .5 mills over four years, July 1, 2023-June 30, 2027; St. Clair County Parks and Recreation’s .5 mills over six years, 2022-2027; and the St. Clair County Senior Citizens .8 mills over four years, 2022-2025.

Oil spill found in St. Clair River, officials say water is safe to drink

The Suncor Sarnia refinery responded to a diesel spill caused by heavy rainfall about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mark White, the deputy director of St. Clair County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said they were notified about the spill at about 10 p.m. As a precaution, the agency had the water plants in St. Clair County shut down. As of this morning, the water supply along the St. Clair River on the U.S. side is safe to drink. ...

St. Clair County voters pass millages

St. Clair County voters on Aug. 2 passed four countywide millages that will fund various services for residents. Voter turnout in the county was 33.45%. The St. Clair County Parks and Recreation millage renewal passed with nearly 73% of the vote, according to unofficial results from the St. Clair County Clerk’s Office.
