Ama, Hahnville Drainage Town Hall May 26

SJSO officers graduate from POST program

LAPLACE — St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre announced May 17, 2022 that three SJSO officers were among 21 graduates of the Peace Officer Standards and Training program (POST) conducted at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Training Facility in Luling. SCSO participates in ‘Click It or Ticket’ 5/23 to 5/31

During the Memorial Day Holiday, about 10,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide will be out on the roads to remind drivers and passengers to buckle their seatbelts. In 2020, 10,674 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants were killed in crashes in the United States. This was a 14% increase from 2019. An early study from January – June 2021 estimates an increase of about 18.4% of people who died from traffic accidents in the United States. Port of South Louisiana elects new commission chairman

RESERVE — During the April 2022 regular commission meeting, the Port of South Louisiana board of commissioners elected Mr. Ryan Burks as Chairman for 2022-23. Burks, who was appointed to the board of commissioners in 2020 by St Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell to represent St. Charles Parish, succeeds Mr. D. Paul Robichaux, who served as Commission Chairman since 2014. Under Robichaux’s tenure, the Port of South Louisiana welcomed new industrial partners including Yuhuang Chemical and Formosa; saw expansions at, but not limited to, Monsanto, Noranda Alumina, Globalplex, and the port’s Executive Regional Airport; began the construction of the port’s Business Development Center; acquired the MV Nathan Folse, a state-of-the-art security vessel; and participated in Memorandums of Understanding with Cuba and the Panama Canal Authority.

Traffic stop in St. Charles Parish leads to capture of Gonzales man wanted for rape of 13-year-old

Sheriff Tim Soignet announced that the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has a man in custody in connection with a 2021 rape and kidnapping of a 13-year-old victim. Marlon Rios, 28 of Gonzales, La was apprehended on outstanding warrants for the Terrebonne Parish investigation, during a traffic stop conducted by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s office, where Rios was the driver of the vehicle.
