Referees make incredible mistake in Oregon-Washington State game

The officiating crew in Saturday’s game between the Oregon Ducks and Washington State Cougars made quite the mess after an intentional grounding penalty. The Cougars were called for intentional grounding on a first down play early in the second quarter, which should have come with a loss of down. Somehow, the officiating crew took away an extra down from Washington State, and the drive went directly to third down.

Ducks’ offensive line now sits as nation’s No. 1 team in one key stat

Coming into the 2022 college football season, we all knew the Oregon Ducks’ offensive line would be a huge strength of the team. Now through four games, the numbers bear that out. The biggest number where the line is concerned is zero, which is the number of times quarterback Bo Nix has been sacked. Oregon is the only team in the country not to allow a quarterback sack. The big test was this past Saturday at Washington State, which had 15 sacks through a trio of contests. After Oregon rolled through Pullman, they still have 15. “Those guys went down and executed,” Oregon...

Social media reacts to Oregon’s insane 44-41 comeback win vs. Washington State

That’s not quite how we expected the Oregon Ducks to come out of Pullman with a victory, but in the end, the result is all that matters. After what was an incredibly frustrating and at times ugly game for the Ducks, Dan Lanning and his squad found a way to pull it out in the end, thanks to a 50-yard touchdown from Bo Nix to Troy Franklin that gave Oregon a three-point lead with under two minutes to go. For good measure, Mase Funa got the defense on the board with a pick-six after that to erase all doubt. It’s safe to say that, through all of the highs and lows, Duck Twitter had a field day. Ducks move up slightly in USA TODAY Coaches poll

As one would figure, the Oregon Ducks football team managed to climb in the USA TODAY Coaches poll after their 44-41 road victory over Washington State. Oregon moved up three spots to No. 15 in the poll that came out Sunday morning. USC moved up a spot to No. 6 after the Trojans’ 14-10 win in Corvallis over Oregon State. Utah also moved up a spot to No. 13 with its win over lowly Arizona State. But it was Washington that took the biggest jump. The Huskies moved up six spots to No. 18. They are quickly becoming a team that no one saw coming. They are 4-0 with a trip to Tempe to take it to the Sun Devils next weekend. Social media reacts to Pac-12 refs big blunder that gave WSU extra plays

Just when you think the Pac-12 Conference has fixed its referee problem, they seem to just get worse. In the second quarter of the Oregon-Washington State game, the officials lost track of the down situation and ultimately the Cougars lost a down. But instead of fixing it right then and there, they waited for two plays where WSU eventually had to punt. You’re not supposed to be able to go back a couple of plays and pretty much go back in time that far to correct something like that. So after the Ducks had received a punt, Washington State was able to have a 3rd-and-17 all over again. Fortunately for Oregon, it didn’t cost the Ducks as WSU failed to convert the third down, again, and had to punt, again. On the telecast, official “expert” claims the replay official can determine something like this as long as possession didn’t change hands. Did it did change hands with the punt and no one has ever seen a situation like this before. Only in the Pac-12. Letters to the Editor: Ashamed to be a Duck after Oregon-BYU game? So am I

I’m a Mormon who grew up in Oregon and attended the U of O, but never have I been more ashamed to be a Duck. I expect more from a university that prides itself on diversity and inclusion than to simply issue a standard apology after students spouted discriminatory hate speech on university property. The University of Oregon Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards is supposed to investigate things such as students chanting “[expletive] the Mormons” on university property, yet we've heard nothing from them. Not only is it a student conduct issue, but a legal one as it involves hate speech and discrimination on campus, yet we’ve heard nothing from the UO Police Department.

9 notable quotes from Dan Lanning following gutsy victory over Cougars

This isn’t a game that the Oregon Ducks usually win. In years past, with so many things working against them, we’ve often seen the Ducks tend to fold in situations like this. Whether it’s penalties, turnovers, mental mistakes, or missed tackles, past Oregon teams often struggled to step up to the plate when tested. Something about this Dan Lanning-led squad feels different, though. The Ducks stepped up and pulled out a gutsy comeback victory on the road against Washington State Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t always pretty, and did a good job of identifying numerous places where the team can still improve, but it...
