MITCHELL, SD (GC.com) – Class B Tourney in Mitchell. A 5-run 6th inning put the Raptors on top 7-2, and they held on from there in an 8-6 win over Salem. D/E gave back four of those runs in the next inning, but they never let the Cubs score again & added an insurance run in the B8. The Raptors held a narrow 9-8 lead in hits, but had twice the errors (4-2). All five runs came w/ two-down for D/E in the 6th, courtesy of a double, three singles, and a walk. Phil Johnson threw 7inn for the win, allowing 6R (3ER) on 8H w/ 6K & 1BB before Jason Schmidt recorded the 2inn save w/ 4K. Johnson helped his own cause by going 3/4 w/ a double & 3RBI, and Schmidt wasn’t too shabby w/ a 1/2 day at the dish w/ a run & 2RBI. Salem’s Tyler Earls took the loss, giving up 4R (3ER) on 4H w/ 5K & 5BB. Kyle Tuschen led the Cubs’ offense, going 2/5 w/ 3RBI.
