Man crashes while passing recovery emergency vehicles

A man who didn't want to wait in a traffic backup found himself in a ditchline and later in jail for endangering the lives of emergency workers. Laurel Sheriff's officials took 58-year-old Jimmy Dean Gray into custody on Thursday evening on charges of wanton endangerment and reckless driving. Gray was arraigned in Laurel District Court on Monday, where he was set for a pretrial conference on Jan. 11. He is under a $5,000 cash bond or $10,000 fully secured bond.

Nicholasville residents Ronald Eldrige, 61, and Lowell “Nick” Strong, 63, have been identified as the victims of deadly plane crash in Lincoln County. At around 5 p.m. Friday evening, police were called out to the crash site of a small fixed-wing, single-engine personal aircraft in a wooded area near Crab Orchard. Two Nicholasville men died Friday in a private plane crash in the Crab Orchard community of Lincoln County. A fixed wing, single engine airplane crashed in a dense wooded area off of Begley Road and was spotted just after 5 p.m., Kentucky State Police officials said. Two men sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln County Coroner.

CRAB ORCHARD, Ky. (AP) — Two people have died in a small-plane crash in Lincoln County. Kentucky State Police said they were called to the Crab Orchard community late Friday afternoon to find a fixed wing, single engine airplane in a densely wooded area. The plane’s two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. They were later identified as 61-year-old Ronald Eldridge and 63-year-old Lowell Strong, both of Nicholasville. Their bodies will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Officer in Frankfort for autopsies. An investigation is on-going.
