Man walking on N.J. tracks fatally struck by freight train

A man walking on railroad tracks was struck and killed by a freight train early Tuesday in Somerset County, authorities said. The man, whose name was not immediately available, was struck by a Norfolk Southern train shortly after 2 a.m. in Bound Brook, said Connor Spielmaker, a spokesman for the freight train company.

N.J. county’s email system offline after cyber breach

Somerset County officials can’t receive or send emails following a cybersecurity breach Tuesday morning, officials said. County spokesman Nathan Rudy said the county “experienced a ransomware breach” this morning and as part of the county’s response, officials temporarily shuttered the county email system. An investigation is underway, he said.
