Riders taking part in RAGBRAI tradition before start of 2021 event

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Before heading out on their trip, riders participating in RAGBRAI take part in a tradition. It’s tradition for RAGBRAI riders to dip their back tires in the Missouri River at the beginning of the ride and front tires in the Mississippi to mark the ride’s end.

RAGBRAI 2021 – Saturday, July 24th

(Le Mars) — The 48th edition of RAGBRAI rolled into Le Mars as early as Thursday, and remained guests of the “Ice Cream Capital of the World” through Sunday morning. Thousands of bikers from across the state, from coast to coast nationally, and from around the world converged on Le Mars for a fun celebration as the cross-state bicycle ride kicked off from Le Mars. High temperatures were in the 90’s throughout the weekend which may have made for some uncomfortable conditions, but many of the riders extended grateful compliments for the hospitality extended by Le Mars and Plymouth County residents.

Ice cream and RAGBRAI: Traditions come together as Le Mars prepares to launch the return of the cross-state ride

Le Mars — Jim Green loved ice cream. So it was appropriate that on Saturday, as riders on the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa gathered in Le Mars for Sunday's launch of the ride's 48th edition, a memorial to the late, longtime director of the world's largest annual bicycle ride was dedicated in the northwest Iowa city that claims to be the "Ice Cream Capital of the World."

LETTER: Woodbury County supervisors commended for wind ordinance

On behalf of the Iowa Conservative Energy Forum, I am writing to commend the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors on their commonsense wind ordinance that recently was approved and adopted. This ordinance balances the rights of individual property owners to make the decisions on what’s best for their own land and families, while also maintaining guard rails to ensure projects are built within certain specifications for the community.
