Man Arrested After Being Found Driving Emergency Vehicle

Inwood, Iowa — A South Dakota man was arrested in Inwood early on Saturday after a deputy found him driving an emergency vehicle. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, their emergency center received a report from an Inwood resident of an intoxicated man who had walked into the resident’s house, appeared to be lost, and left on foot early Saturday morning, August 6, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Storm Lake Man Dies In 2-Vehicle Crash

(Primghar, IA) – A Storm Lake man is dead following a two-vehicle crash near Primghar in northwestern Iowa. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 56-year-old Laurie Ann Banks of Sutherland ran a stop sign Saturday at a rural intersection east of Primghar and struck a car driven by 66-year-old Mark Stanley Kirkholm of Storm Lake. Kirkholm was partially ejected and died at the scene.

City Of Sioux Center To Give Money To Private School

Sioux Center, Iowa — The City of Sioux Center is going to be giving money to a private school in that town. According to Sioux Center officials, the Sioux Center City Council has approved creating an economic development agreement with the Sioux Center Christian School for the expansion of the school’s facilities.

Storm Lake Man Dies In Saturday O’Brien County Crash

Primghar, Iowa — A 66-year-old Storm Lake man is dead as the result of a two-vehicle crash east of Primghar Saturday afternoon. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the mishap occurred shortly before 2:00 Saturday afternoon, when a 2000 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 56-year-old Laurie Ann Banks of Sutherland, was northbound on Taft Avenue and allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign at 390th Street. Banks’ vehicle struck the driver’s side of a westbound 2020 Ford Escape, driven by 66-year-old Mark Stanley Kirkholm of Storm Lake. Troopers say Kirkholm’s Ford entered the ditch, rolling at least once, partially ejecting him from the vehicle. Troopers report he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Boyden Motorcycle Accident Sends Eastern Iowa Rider To Hospital

Boyden, Iowa — A northeast Iowa man was taken to a hospital after an early morning motorcycle accident near Boyden on Sunday morning, August 7th, 2022. According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, about 6:05 a.m., 41-year-old Matthew Lane of Sheffield, Iowa, was driving a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Highway 18, four miles east of Boyden, when he lost control of the vehicle and was ejected from it.

One Killed and Another Injured in Crash Near Primghar

Primghar, IA (KICD)– One person was killed and another injured in a weekend crash just outside of Primghar. The Iowa State Patrol and O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office were called to the intersection of Taft Avenue and 390th Street, about three miles east of town, just before two o’clock Saturday afternoon.

Storm Lake man killed in crash near Primghar

PRIMGHAR, Iowa -- A Storm Lake, Iowa, man died Saturday in a two-vehicle collision at a rural intersection east of Primghar. At approximately 2 p.m., Laurie Banks, 56, of Sutherland, Iowa, was northbound on O'Brien County Road L-54 in Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection with O'Brien County Road B-40. Banks struck the driver's side of a westbound Ford Escape driven by Mark Kirkholm, 66, of Storm Lake, in the intersection.

The Iowa State Patrol reports the second fatal accident in O’Brien County in less than a week. Saturday afternoon, a pickup collided with an SUV at the intersection of B40 and L54, 2 miles east of Primghar. The pickup driver, Laurie Ann Banks, 56, of Sutherland, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, and struck the SUV on the drivers side. The SUV driver, 66 year old Mark Stanley Kirkholm of Storm Lake, was not wearing a seat belt, and was partially ejected from the vehicle at the time of impact. He died at the scene. Banks was injured, and transported to Mercy One Primghar for treatment.
