Laytonsville is already getting into the Holiday Season with the tree lighting ceremony held Friday, December 2, at 6:30 pm at the Town Hall. While there, the Lions Club collected gently used coats to support their coat drive. The Laytonsville District Volunteer Fire Department escorted Santa to the event.

But, unfortunately, for residents in Flower Hill, Olney, Aspen Hill, and Silver Spring, holiday lights lost their cheer, and residents plunged into darkness.

United Airlines Uses 100% Sustainable Fuel

In December, 2021, 115 passengers flew from Chicago’s O’Hare airport to Washington, DC. That flight was the first in the world to do so with one engine running on 100-percent non-petroleum-based sustainable fuel made from sugar water and corn. The fuel reportedly burns up to 75 percent cleaner than petroleum-based fuels. This fuel delivers comparable performance of conventional jet fuel but with a markedly smaller carbon footprint. I spent the weekend with family in Maryland. I’m grateful that my husband’s family are open to having him and me, plus my mom. On Saturday, we went into Washington D.C. and drove through streets I haven’t seen since I was 10. It was wonderful, even if we couldn’t get out of the car and sightsee.
