SIDNEY — The Troy football team picked up its third win in a row Friday night, getting past Sidney 25-7 in MVL action. Troy improved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the MVL, while Sidney dropped to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the MVL. Troy will host Tippecanoe Friday.

Oh Boba! opens in downtown Troy

TROY – The Troy community welcomed a new bubble tea store, Oh Boba!, at a ribbon-cutting event on Thursday, Sept. 22. Oh Boba! is located at 217 Town Square, and has already opened to the public. The tea shop is open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

Habitat to start new housing project

TROY – Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties has announced they will be starting a new housing project. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, Bridget Lawson, of Sidney, signed a partnership agreement marking the start of her homeownership process and acceptance into the program. Lawson initially applied for our Homeownership Program in August 2019. She reapplied in July 2022 and has met Habitat’s criteria for homeownership: need, willingness to partner, financial readiness, willingness to complete 400 hours of sweat equity and assumption of a 20-year, no-interest mortgage.

New Bremen Pumpkinfest brings fall, food, and fun all together

New Bremen, OH (WLIO) - The giant pumpkins may be gone but there is a whole lot of fun that took their place for the 19th annual New Bremen Pumpkinfest. Brats, craft beers, and live music on the stage, plus a lot of kids' activities are just some of the things that drew people to the annual event. The festival became a non-profit organization in recent years, and the money that is raised gets put back into the New Bremen community.

Fall Barn Dance open to the public

SIDNEY — The Senior Center, 304 S. West Ave., Sidney, to host their Fall Barn Dance on Friday Sept. 30, 2022. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Dance will begin at 7 p.m. This is open to the public with a nominal cost of $5 per person. Patrol plans OVI checkpoint on Russell Road

PIQUA – The Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced an OVI checkpoint will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday night, Sept. 23, on Russell Road in the City of Sidney. The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grant funds, and are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers, and is a partnership between the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Sidney Police Department.
