Faulty catalytic converter to blame for Shasta County fire

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — A faulty catalytic converter was to blame for nearly 800 acres burning in Shasta County. In the latest update from Cal Fire, the Cow Fire was 65% contained. The fire started off Highway 44 and South Cow Creek Road, southeast of Millville, on Sunday, June 20. Since then, it's burned 761 acres.

Wind turbine project rejected by Shasta Co. Planning Commissioners

REDDING, Calif. — A marathon meeting ended with a rejection of a proposed new wind project by the Shasta County Planning Commission. Tuesday's meeting started at 1 p.m. and the vote happened just before 11 p.m. The commissioners voted unanimously, 5-0 to deny the Fountain Wind Project. But it will likely be appealed to the Shasta County Board of Supervisors who have the final decision. The commissioners' vote went against the recommendation of county staff who had recommended approval of the permit.

ANDERSON, Calif. — Officers with the Anderson Police Department (APD) Bike Team arrested two people during their patrol early Monday morning, including a wanted felon. Residents evacuated due to wildfire burning in Shasta County

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — Residents in Shasta County are being evacuated due to a wildfire burning in the area, the sheriff's office said. South Cow Creek Road is closed at Highway 44 while crews fight the Cow Fire, which is burning in the Milville area, according to the sheriff's office.
