Driver leaves scene after crash kills passenger in vehicle

AKRON, Ohio — A 23-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in South Akron, and police say the driver left the scene afterward. Police say officers pulled over a BMW for a traffic violation at Cole Avenue and Marcy Street just after midnight. As officers approached the car, it sped off. The officers tried to pursue the BMW but quickly lost sight of it, police say.

Blackbrook Audubon Society invites everyone to the “Amazing Galapagos” a free presentation by photographer Alan Studt and Gale Franko 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19 at Penitentiary Glen’s Nature Center in Kirtland. They will take the audience 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador to the place where Darwin’s theories were born and help them experience giant tortoises, prehistoric-looking iguanas, and other species found nowhere else on earth.
