McFarland Boulevard Closures Planned as ALDOT Enters Final Stages of I-20/59 Bridge Project in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

It's been years in the making, and now the Alabama Department of Transportation is entering the final stages of construction in the Interstate 20/59 Bridge Project. The contractor announced that all lanes of McFarland Boulevard will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, August 6 through 5 a.m. Monday, August 9th, as crews work on a new single-point urban interchange at Exit 73. The lane closures only impact the portion of McFarland Boulevard that run directly underneath the interstate.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A federal freeze on most evictions enacted last year is scheduled to expire Saturday, after President Joe Biden’s administration extended the original date by a month. The moratorium, put in place by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in September, was the only tool keeping millions of tenants in their homes. Many of them lost jobs during the coronavirus pandemic and had fallen months behind on their rent.
