Sedalia Police Reports For August 4, 2021

This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department reports. Tuesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Sedalia Police Department lobby in reference to a property damage report. The damage occurred in the 900 block of Normandy Road, which is the Diamond B Mini Storage. Melanie F. Turner reported that sometime between the evening of August 1st and the afternoon of August 3rd, someone cut the locks to her two storage units. Turner does not know if any of the items have been stolen yet, because the storage company placed their own locks on the units.

Warsaw Man Injured in Motorcycle Accident

A Warsaw man was injured in a motorcycle accident that occurred Tuesday evening in Benton County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 1982 Honda CM450, driven by 34-year-old Brian L. Birdsong of Warsaw, was on Missouri Route MM at Quail Ridge Road at 6:30 p.m., when he ran off the right side of the road and overturned, ejecting the driver.

Stover Man Injured in Morgan County Rollover

A Stover man was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Monday night in Morgan County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2001 Chevy Silverado, driven by 33-year-old Kevin M. Chrisman of Stover, was on Highway 135, north of Wolfe Lane, at 9:45 p.m., when the truck traveled off the right side of the roadway and the driver overcorrected, crossed the center line. The driver again overcorrected, and the truck started skidding and sliding. The vehicle traveled off the right side and struck a fence, then overturned.

Stover Man Injured In Highway Crash

MORGAN COUNTY, Mo,— A Stover man was injured in a crash on Highway 135, north of Wolf Lane, on Monday, August 2. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Kevin Chrisman was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado when the vehicle travelled off the right side of the roadway. The Patrol says Crisman overcorrected and crossed the center of the roadway. He reportedly overcorrected again and began skidding, travelling off the right side of the roadway, where he struck a fence and overturned.

Home County of Missouri State Fairgrounds Dealing with Outbreak of RSV

(Missourinet) The west-central Missouri county that is home to the upcoming state fair is seeing an outbreak of a new respiratory illness unrelated to COVID. It’s called RSV, a common respiratory virus that normally causes cold-like symptoms. Pettis County health director Joann Martin tells our Missourinet Sedalia affiliate KDRO that RSV is normally seen from November to March:


The three issues that were put before voters in Lafayette County were approved by fairly wide margins during the special election on Tuesday, August 3. According to the Lafayette County Clerk’s Office, in Concordia, voters approved the city to be authorized to increase its general fund levy by 35 cents per $100 of assessed value to be used for general municipal purposes- including but not limited to- funding the acquisition of and improvements to Concordia Park (Southside Park), walking trails, new bathrooms, playground equipment and other park improvements. The final vote was 100 yes to 47 no.

Motorcycle Crash Seriously Injures Versailles Man

MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. — A Versailles man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Anchorage Road, Saturday, July 29. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Tyler Stewart was driving a 2007 Yamaha R1 when the vehicle travelled off the south edge of the roadway, struck a barbed wire fence and overturned, ejecting Stewart.

SFCC Closing Notices for August 12, August 18

All State Fair Community College campuses will close at noon on Thursday, Aug. 12, for opening day of the Missouri State Fair and will reopen at 8 a.m. Aug. 13. On Wednesday, Aug. 18, all campuses will be closed from 8-11 a.m. for an all-college meeting. Offices will open at 11 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. These two closings affect campuses in Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Sedalia, and at Whiteman Air Force Base.

DNR, Partners Celebrate Missouri Bicentennial at Missouri State Fair

The Womans Building will be the headquarters for Missouri Bicentennial activities at the Missouri State Fair Aug. 12 through Aug. 22 in Sedalia. Visitors can view displays of the Missouri Bicentennial time capsule and quilt. They can also receive a free Department of Natural Resources Missouri Bicentennial State Fair souvenir pinback button while supplies last. Official Missouri Bicentennial merchandise will also be on sale in the building.
