Utica Zoo Explains Sudden Closure; Awaiting New Certification

Many in the Utica area have been wondering what led to the sudden, temporary closure of the Utica Zoo this week. Zoo officials say there is no need for concern, they are simply awaiting an inspection from USDA which may come in the next few days. According to USDA's website, the Class-C exhibitor license for the Utica Zoo was cancelled earlier this month, but Heath says the issue was simply scheduling conflict and they are preparing to welcome USDA to the Utica Zoo property later this week.

Clinton Central School District announces their new superintendent

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Clinton Central School District Board of Education announced their newly appointed superintendent, Christopher Clancy, on Tuesday. Clancy had a long list of qualifications prior to landing his position with the Clinton District. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, in Inclusive Elementary and Special Education and his Master of Science degree from Plattsburgh State University, in Curriculum and Instruction as well as a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership.

The field hockey season and the new program are off to an exciting start at Marian University, an NCAA Division III school in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Allyson Nichols, a 2022 graduate of Little Falls High School, is one of 10 freshmen on coach Holly Heeb's first-year squad. Nichols made a strong first impression when she scored three goals in the Sabres' inaugural game, a 3-2 win at Concordia University of Wisconsin Sept. 1.
