Lounge Coming to Jasper’s River Centre

Jasper- On the banks of the Patoka River sits the River Centre, and soon a new place to grab a drink. Owsley’s Lounge will open its doors in October in the Jasper River Centre, which currently features shops and businesses. The new hangout will feature TVs and domestic and commercial drinks along with food prepared by Café Piña’s Claudia Juarez.

Jerry Eugene Roberts

On the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, Jerry Eugene Roberts passed away at home in Ferdinand surrounded by family. He was 56 years old. Jerry was born 1965 in Columbus, Indiana to Lee and Phyllis “Till” Fallowell Roberts. Jerry was raised in Gnaw Bone, Indiana and graduated from Brown County High School. After graduation Jerry joined the Army to, “protect his family”, and became a member of the 82nd Airborne Division as an intelligence analyst and parachutist where he served for 10 years. He served in the Gulf War and was also stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1994 due to medical reasons.

Baldwin hopes experience pays off for Chargers

North Montgomery boys tennis had a lot of young players a season ago. That experience is something that second-year coach Dane Baldwin pays off for his team this year. The Chargers graduated just a single senior from last years team as they will bring back Sophomore Beckett Martin, seniors Brookes Walters and Hayden Turner, and sophomore Alex Chapman who was unable to play a season ago due to injury.

Chargers focused on steady improvement

It’s a different year, but the goal and focus remains the same for North Montgomery football. After finishing the season 4-5 last season, the Chargers will look to build off of last season. Coach Josh Thompson always preaches getting better and controlling the things that his team can control. That message is the same again as North Montgomery is kicking things into high gear with the season on the horizon.
