The City of Santa Maria Public Library’s SMPL to Go Bookmobile will be around the City with Pop-up Bookmobile Stops on select Saturdays at various locations. Teen Manga Drawing

The City of Santa Maria Public Library invites teens in junior high and high school to learn from a former Simpsons artist, how to draw anime characters. Carlos Nieto III will demonstrate and teach how to create and modify an anime character from scratch, no matter the artistic level. All materials will be provided. City Budget Hearing

The Santa Maria City Council will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, June 21st at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, to consider and adopt the proposed 2022-24 City Budget. Aerial Enforcement of Fireworks

The City of Santa Maria is taking a more aggressive response to illegal fireworks this year, using a high-altitude aircraft with video and GPS technology to pinpoint launches. Those property owners and/or occupants of identified addresses will receive a $1,000 fine for illegal use of fireworks. This new tool is in response to hundreds of public complaints each year, and to uphold the law.

Fireworks Yard Signs, Pet Crates

The City of Santa Maria is again offering free yard signs in English and in Spanish for Santa Maria noise-sensitive residents in advance of the Fourth of July Weekend. The signs are intended for pet owners, veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), people with autism, and others with noise sensitivity. The two-sided signs measure about 14 inches by 23 inches.
