More than 80 candidates place bids for Sanpete municipal elections

All the political strife and turmoil caused by the 2020 presidential election did not seem to deter Sanpete County’s enthusiasm for running for city offices this year. The list of candidates running for mayor and city council in Sanpete County’s 13 incorporated cities and towns was up substantially from the previous municipal election. While more than 60 candidates filed for municipal offices in 2019, over 80 candidates filed for office this year.

North Sanpete School District sponsor summer feeding program

North Sanpete School District is sponsoring a summer feeding program again this summer. The program provides free grab and go meals to all children ages 0-18. The program serves meals five days a week starting Tuesday, June 1 and running through Friday, July 30. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the USDA waivers for Summer Feeding this summer we will be running the program as a curbside grab and go meal service in which a breakfast and lunch will be offered to each child free of charge.

Based on social media, Scandinavian Festival crowds could be enormous

EPHRAIM—No one knows how many people will show up for the Scandinavian Heritage Festival this weekend. But organizers believe the festival could be the biggest ever. The festival has focused its advertising on radio on the Wasatch Front and on social media. As of Friday, May 21, Instagram and Facebook pages have had a combined 112,400 views, most from the Wasatch Front, says Michael Patton, recreation director for Ephraim City, who has been festival coordinator. And the pages have had 2,000 “likes” and 500 “shares.”

KAYSVILLE—A total of 52 participants from Sanpete County competed for a state title last weekend, and they did not disappoint.
