7 arrested in alleged SGF narcotics bust

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office announced the “narcotics arrests” of seven people after searching a South Glens Falls residence. They said they arrested Caitlin Pruess, 30, on November 23 after a lengthy drug trafficking investigation. She is accused of selling crack/cocaine heroin, fentanyl, and crystal methamphetatime throughout Saratoga County.

Vermont police investigate after prison inmate found dead

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police troopers are investigating after an inmate at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield was found dead. Charles Mould, 74, of Bennington, was found unresponsive in the infirmary unit where he was being held at about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday. He was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy will be performed. The death does not appear to be suspicious, officials say. Mould has been in custody since 2008. He was serving a sentence of 40 years to life on charges that included sexual assault on a victim less than 10 years old.

State Police in Troop G make several notable DWI arrests Thanksgiving week

On November 22, 2022, at about 11:18 p.m. State Police of Wilton responded to a crash in the parking lot of Fitzgeralds Steakhouse in Moreau, NY. The investigation determined a vehicle driven by Shawn F. Van Vranken, 25, of Glens Falls, NY, struck a parked car while attempting to leave the location. Van Vranken was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to Wilton for processing, where he recorded a 0.18% BAC. Van Vranken was issued tickets returnable to the Moreau Town Court on December 7, 2022, and released to a sober third party.

Upstate Assemblyman Jake Ashby is ready for orientation with his new Senate colleagues this week after winning a close race in a new district. Voters in the redrawn 43rd Senate District, encompassing all of Rensselaer County, the northwestern piece of Albany County and all but the northern part of Washington County, elected Ashby on Nov. 8 with more than 51% of the vote, according to the state Board of Elections.

On November 28, 2022, State Police of Wilton arrested Sierra L. Cook, 25, of Schenectady, NY, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child. On November 23, 2022, at about 11:13 a.m. Troopers received a complaint that a child was shown inappropriate photographs while traveling on a school bus. The investigation determined Cook was employed by Durrin Inc. Transportation Services as a bus aide. The transportation company was hired to transport children from Saratoga County, NY, to a school in Albany County, NY. While working, Cook showed a child nude pictures of herself and others on a cellphone.
