VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) – A person was shot and killed by Clark County deputies early Sunday morning. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle associated with someone they had probable cause to arrest. The person was believed to be a suspect in an assault with a handgun. The suspect did not comply with the traffic stop and led deputies on a chase.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies fatally shoot assault suspect after pursuit

Police shot and killed an assault suspect after a pursuit in the Orchards area early Sunday, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. At about 2:20 a.m., deputies tried to stop a car associated with someone they had probable cause to arrest for first-degree assault with a handgun, according to a sheriff’s office press release. The person wouldn’t pull over, so the deputies gave chase, the release states. Deputies used their cars to block the suspect near Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast 49th Street, the release states.

Portland police say car thieves are using ‘deception’ to steal from unsuspecting drivers

Portland police are alerting the public to a type of “deception” that thieves are using to lure drivers out of their cars so the thieves can steal them. Police on Saturday described four separate instances this past week when two to four teenage boys or young men reportedly ran up to victims’ cars “frantically” yelling that something was wrong with the car or something was hanging out of the back of it. In some of the cases, the suspects banged on the cars. When the drivers got out to check, the suspects got in the car and drove off, police said.
