Long Island couple found shot dead in home: cops

A young Long Island couple was found shot dead at home Thursday — possibly the result of a double suicide or murder-suicide, according to authorities and a report. Destiny Leinfus, 20, and Gavin Bifalco, 19, were found dead from gunshot wounds inside her parents’ Park Circle home in Shirley around 4:50 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.  Detectives continued to investigate Friday who fired the shots — but said it appeared one or both of the duo died of self-inflicted injuries.  Police could not confirm the pair’s relationship Friday, but Newsday reported that the two were boyfriend and girlfriend. Both lived with Leinfus’ parents.  Autopsies will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, authorities said.

A young couple was found dead in their Long Island home after shots were fired inside, Suffolk County police said. Detectives are investigating after a 911 call from a home on Park Circle in Shirley led officers to find two people dead inside the residence just before 5 p.m. Thursday. Police said that 20-year-old Destiny Leinfus and 19-year-old Gavin Bifalco were found dead, both with gunshot wounds.

Southampton Man Standing On Tracks, Hit, Killed By Train

A Long Island resident who was allegedly standing on the tracks was hit and killed by a train. The incident occurred in Southampton around 3:40 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17. According to MTA officials, at about 3:40 p.m., the 3 p.m train from Speonk to Montauk fatally struck Rodney E. Brumsey, age 57, of Southampton, who was on the tracks west of Southampton Station near the Moses Lane grade crossing.

4 arrested on weapons charges after crash in Suffolk County

DIX HILLS, N.Y. -- On Long Island, four people who were rescued from a crash are now facing weapons charges.Suffolk County Police say it all started just before 1 a.m. Thursday when officers saw a car speeding and swerving on Route 231 in North Babylon. Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped away.The car then crashed into a tree, overturned and caught fire on Commack Road in Dix Hills.Police rescued the driver and three passengers. They later found a loaded gun.All four now face multiple charges. One of the passengers also faces drug charges.All are expected to survive.
