Suspected dealer arrested

A Texas man alleged to have been selling marijuana from his Ruston apartment has been arrested. The Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a Kennon Lane apartment Sunday morning. Dominik D. Calhoun, 19, of Freeport, Texas, was taken into custody on arrest warrants for two counts of distribution of marijuana and two counts of violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Law—Drug Free Zone.

Victim reports car taken by acquaintance

Two men were arrested by Ruston Police during the investigation of a car taken from the owner without permission. On Monday, RPD officers responded to a King Avenue residence where the victim said she woke up Monday morning to find her keys and vehicle were missing. She called a possible suspect, Jhirrell Harris, 31, of Ruston who said he had the car.

K-9 finds drugs on traffic stop

A local man was arrested Monday about noon after he was stopped for a traffic violation and drugs were found during a search. Deputy S. Carr of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office saw a vehicle backing down La. Highway 33 near La. 3072. The vehicle was halfway on the shoulder and halfway in the southbound lane of the highway.

Late night wreck kills Calhoun woman, leaves juveniles injured

CALHOUN, La. (KNOE) - The Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened in Calhoun in the late night hours of Dec. 8, 2022. Just after 11:30 p.m., LSP Troop F responded to a crash involving one vehicle that happened on U.S. Hwy. 80, west of Laney Crocker Rd. The crash killed Samantha F. Simon, 30, of Calhoun.

Two booked on drug charges

A man and a woman were arrested on drug charges Monday with both claiming ownership of narcotics found in the car. A Ruston Police officer stopped a car on Mills Avenue for a traffic violation about 10:00 p.m. Saturday night. While speaking to passenger Paula Baker, 51, of Castor, an officer noticed her extreme nervousness and suspected impairment by a substance other than alcohol. When asked if she had anything illegal in the purse beside her, Baker reportedly said there might be pills in the purse. She opened the purse to show the officer who saw a small bag of suspected marijuana and a prescription bottle with the label removed.

Minden male charged with stalking

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Minden man after he allegedly stalked an ex-girlfriend over the course of several days. On Saturday, deputies answered a call to a Highway 80 residence in Choudrant and found the distraught victim. The woman said her ex-boyfriend, Tanner B. DeThomas, 38, had been stalking her since he was forbidden by deputies on Nov. 27 from returning to the property by the victim’s request.

Man arrested on traffic stop

A Ruston man was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Friday after a traffic stop yielded drugs and a firearm. At about 2 a.m. Friday morning, Lincoln Parish Deputy S. Carr stopped a vehicle for crossing the center line of the roadway multiple times. While talking to the driver, Carr smelled suspected burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Domestic incident prompts arrest

Grambling police arrested a man Wednesday night after he allegedly forced his way into a girlfriend’s residence and verbally abused her. Officers responded to a call at Mansfield Estates in Grambling about 11 p.m. last Wednesday night. The victim stated she was sleeping when she heard loud noises of someone kicking in her living room door. She said Antonio D. Hymes, 50, aggressively entered her room loudly screaming and cursing at her. She reportedly told Hymes, her boyfriend, multiple times to leave but he refused. When she said she was calling police, he left.
