Culvert repair causes one lane traffic on Dry Creek Road in Rowan County

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – For the next two weeks, a culvert repair on KY 1167, known as Dry Creek Road, at Dan Hall Branch in Rowan County will slow down traffic. The highway will be one lane with all traffic controlled by temporary signals about 1.2 miles from the 519 intersection. Drivers should be cautious and plan travel accordingly.

Morehead Market Returns July 10

The 2021 Morehead Market will be the second Saturday of July thru September from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m, on the Rowan County Arts Center Lawn. This event is weather permitting. Established in 2015, the event features handmade or locally produced items from Rowan and surrounding counties. Items to be sold can include food, produce, soap, candles, jewelry, art ceramics, crafts, plants, etc.

New AppHarvest Facilities Planned for Morehead, Somerset

Community and state leaders gathered in Morehead Monday afternoon to celebrate the groundbreaking of another agri-tech greenhouse in Rowan county. AppHarvest officials announced a new 15 acre facility to grow leafy greens to be built next door to their 60 acre tomato greenhouse near Morehead. The organization also announced a new 30 acre facility to grow strawberries in Somerset, bringing the total number of commercial greenhouses in the commonwealth to five.

Local family leaves MSU Foundation planned gift in children’s honor

MOREHEAD, Ky. (MSU Public Affairs) – The late Norma Hogge wanted to ensure her children were remembered and that future generations of Rowan County students had the financial assistance needed to obtain a college education. In 2002, through the MSU Visionary Society, Hogge established a charitable gift annuity with the MSU Foundation. Upon her passing in 2020, this annuity established the Elijah M. Hogge Jr. and Tina Leslie Hogge Scholarship Endowment.

A clean, safe and inviting rest area on the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 in Rowan County today was announced as the “best maintained” in Kentucky for 2020. “One thing that all travelers appreciate is a well-run, well-maintained, easily accessible rest area where they can stop, relax and enjoy a respite from the road,” said Jim Gray, secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which annually presents the Best Maintained Rest Area Award.
