Senior news: December 2022

OSCODA COUNTY- Welcome December! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! Winter didn’t really give us a chance to ease into it this year. The temps dropped to single digits very quickly. I love holiday time, but the cold, not so much anymore. We just don’t get along as well as we used to. However, it’s Michigan and I love it here.

Hale students celebrate Halloween with a ‘Trunk or Treat’

HALE, October 28, 2022 – Hale Area Schools held a trunk or treat. Imagine what their parents are thinking with all the candy they are getting and with Halloween right around the corner? The kids are going to be all sugared up for a while. The elementary students were able to come to bring their costumes to school for our annual trunk or treat parade in the gym. When they walked into the gym, there were tables next to tables all around the gym for the kids to get candy. Along with parents, some high school students helped to hand out the candy. Hale Middle School football recap

This year’s middle school football season had a total of 13 players that finished the season. Two of the players were in 8th grade, and the rest of the team were all 7th graders. This year’s coaches were Jordan Barclay and the assistant coaches Buck Albritton and Jerud Kimmerer. This super young team made so many improvements over the course of the season. The best game of the season was against AuGres-Sims. The team didn’t take home a win, but it was a super close game. To improve next year’s team, Coach Barclay stated the time to start improvement is right now. Players can begin strengthening by conditioning and weightlifting. The most improved player on the team was Kenady Walsh. She dual sported playing middle school football and volleyball. She played every snap on defense as well as guard, running back, and even the kicker! This year’s team had a lot of dedicated players that never gave up. They were highly motivated through the season’s ups and downs. We are all excited to see the improvements each individual player will make next season.

The beginning of Hale Middle School girls basketball

HALE – Middle School Girls Basketball has begun. With only having one team this year, the girls are very young. Depending on who they are playing, the girls may or may not split up between the 7th graders and 8th graders. The girls are pushing through this struggle though. The ladies lost their first game against Atlanta, but they came back from this loss and beat Fairview the next week. In this game, the Eagles started playing together and became able to take more shots. The seventh grade team was able to continue the winning streak for the eagles with winning their game against Alcona. The eighth grade team struggled in a tough game against Alcona, and were not able to take the win. The ladies worked hard, but could not come up with a win. The Lady eagles are pushing hard through this season, and we hope to see a couple more wins out of them in the future!
