The Phelps County Sheriff’s Department has a busy week recovering property stolen from four different counties. It was last week when deputies worked two separate burglaries in their county. In one instance, a UTV and tools were stolen from a farm about 15 miles southeast of Rolla. The owner spotted the UTV the following day and deputies arrested one suspect.

Salem man faces felony drug charges after vehicle stop

A Salem man had a warrant issued for his arrest Tuesday resulting from drugs being found during a vehicle stop, according to documents filed in circuit court. Ricky L. Miner, 61, is charged with felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance as well as one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000.

Pulaski County fire chief dies after battling COVID-19

A Pulaski County fire chief who died earlier this week had COVID at the time of his death. Chief Rickey Hobbs, 60, who worked with both the Tri-County Fire Protection District and Waynesville Rural Fire Protection District, died Tuesday morning at Lake Regional. KRMS reports Hobbs had been battling COVID since early September.
