Police: Two hours after Hartford shooting, wounded man found in New Britain

HARTFORD — Police are investigating after a man shot in the city Sunday night was found more than two hours later in nearby New Britain, officials said. Shortly after 8 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Broadview Terrace for a ShotSpotter gunfire activation in the area, Lt. Aaron Boisvert said.

The decision to open the restaurant in a College Street space formerly occupied by the Samurai Japanese Restaurant was made before pandemic hit the state, sending a chill through the economy. Babies saved, released after car kills mama turtle

SOUTHWICK — What started as a road-kill rescue turned into a wildlife conservation effort for Southwick and one of the oldest animal species on the planet. Animal Control Officer Liz Bennett received what she had thought was a standard road-kill call early this summer. A large snapping turtle had been run over by a car but was still alive. Bennett said part of the turtle’s shell had been crushed, so she brought it to Tufts Wildlife Clinic in North Grafton.

Enfield Police announce ramp closure

ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – The Enfield Police have announced that the entrance ramp from Pearl Street to west bound 190/Suffield Bridge will be closed Monday. According to a statement from the Enfield Police Department, the ramp will be temporarily closed while construction crews begin to pave Route 190 over to Suffield. Drivers are asked to plan accordingly and to avoid the area.

Feds: Jury finds Hartford man guilty of gun offense

HARTFORD — It took a federal jury about a day to convict a city man of an illegal gun possession charge stemming from a 2016 incident, prosecutors said. The jury trial for 40-year-old Jose Perez began Thursday before Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford. The jury returned the guilty verdict Friday afternoon.

Dick’s to open in new space in Manchester in November

MANCHESTER — Dick’s Sporting Goods will celebrate its grand opening at the Plaza at Burr Corners by Nov. 15, according to property owner Adam Winstanley. Winstanley, who owns Winstanley Enterprises LLC, said he couldn’t pinpoint a specific grand opening date because renovations are still underway in the space the store will move into. But he said he expected the store to open sometime between Nov. 1 and Nov. 15.
