ROCKLAND — Two Trekkers teams have returned from 12-day Cross America trips to Colorado and Utah, with one more team (Team Sequoia) there now. These are the first students to get on a plane for their expeditions since the pandemic began, leaving behind families, friends, and phones. This summer, one in seven Trekkers students have reported leaving home or being away from family or friends as the most challenging part of their expedition.

The term will expire on the June election of 2024. The polls will be open at the Town Office from noon to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots are available August 1. The last date to get an absentee ballot will be at the close of the business day on Thursday, August 25. All absentee ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election day, August 30.

Wiscasset Police Chief Larry Hesseltine issued the following update Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 9 regarding the Mason Station burglary: “With the assistance of Central Maine Power and the public we were able to identify and charge all five individuals responsible for the Mason Station incident. Five teenagers from the Bath/Topsham area have all been charged with Burglary, Aggrevated Criminal Mischief (both class C felony charges), and Theft. The theft was elevated to a class B felony because it involved the theft of firearms.
