On November 16th, 2021, Austin Joseph Berg passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident in Cameron, Texas on his way home from work. Mrs. Caffey was born December 20, 1924 in the Salty Community to Luther and Catherine (Story) Jackson. On July 3, 1941, she and Charles Cleo “Buck” Caffey were married in Pasadena, Texas. She worked several different jobs, starting out as a bookkeeper with Hancock Service Stations in Thorndale, Taylor and Rockdale, clerked at Butts Dry Goods in Thorndale, was a cook at Thorndale I.S.D. and then completed her career as the business manager with Caffey Construction. Mrs. Caffey has lived in Rockdale the past 27 years having moved from San Marcos. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale. She was an Astros baseball fan and enjoyed reading Christian love stories. Her favorite author was Karen Kingsbury. Mrs. Caffey loved being involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and holiday family gatherings. She was a collector of Nativity scenes; she has a collection of over 200.
