Northeast College Prep gets high school play of the week

The game between Northeast College Prep and Vertus came down to the final seconds. Off the inbounds pass, Loren Thomas protected the ball but did not touch it to keep the clock from running. Brockport HS sends two students to perform with NYSSMA Conference All-State ensembles

Two Brockport High School juniors have been selected to perform with NYSSMA Conference All-State ensembles. Junior Jason Kleehammer was selected as a NYSSMA Conference All-State Symphony Orchestra member in the Violin 1 section. This NYSSMA ensemble is highly selective and comprised of the finest musicians from all over New York State. Jason is a member of the Brockport High School’s String Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra. Jason has performed as a member of the Hochstein Philharmonic and the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is a student of Joe Goehle and Shannon Nance and is the son of Diahn and Larry Kleehammer of Spencerport. Jason will perform with the All-State Symphony Orchestra the morning of Sunday, December 4, at Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre after three days of rehearsal with the entire group. Auditions for selection in the honors ensembles were held in the spring of 2022 at Webster Thomas High School.

Career Connections program at Churchville-Chili Middle School continues to grow

Launched in 2016, Churchville-Chili Middle School’s career preparation program Career Connections has become an integral learning experience for curious fifth and sixth graders as they begin to consider their future goals and plans. RCSD School of Choice Lottery will be only online this year

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City School District announced that its lottery for school choice will be only online this year. The lottery is for students going into kindergarten, 7th grade, or 9th grade to rank their top five school preferences for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year. Families who don’t participate in the lottery will have their children placed in the school closest to home.

Hilton juniors to perform at National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Conference

Hilton High School juniors Shawn Nordstrom and William Spear have been selected to participate in the All-Eastern Honors Band at the National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Conference, to be held April 13 through 16, 2023, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Shawn, a trombonist, and William, at trumpeter, applied for the prestigious honor and were required to be endorsed by their principal and music director.
