Warsaw Officers Investigating Hit-And-Run Accident Involving Pedestrian

WARSAW — The Warsaw Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian. At 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, the Warsaw Police Department responded to a personal injury hit-and-run that occurred on East Old Road 30 in the area of Eastgate Apartments. At that time, an eastbound white truck struck a 26-year-old woman. The vehicle was reported by a witness to have fled the area at a high rate of speed, continuing east on Old Road 30.

VOLLEYBALL: Southwood ends Pioneer’s 15-year sectional title reign

WABASH — Pioneer’s incredible 15-year run as sectional champions in volleyball came to an end on Saturday night. While the Panthers are currently competing in Class 2A in girls basketball and softball, along with football as well, they still compete in Class A in volleyball. But they ran into a Southwood program that was one of the premier Class 2A volleyball programs in the state for years.

WPD Looking for Truck in Weekend Hit-and-Run

Warsaw Police are asking for our help in finding the driver of a pickup truck accused of hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene on the east side early Saturday morning. A witness told police the white truck hit a 26-year old woman on Old Road 30 East near Eastgate Apartments around 12:25am and then drove off at a high rate of speed.

WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): Police in Warsaw are looking for a white truck involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 26-year-old woman hospitalized. Police say it happened on East Old Rd. 30 near Eastgate Apartments at about 12:25am when the truck hit the woman and sped off, heading eastbound on Old Rd. 30.

WINONA LAKE — Hundreds participated in the ‘Fear is a Liar! Pay’s 5K’ color run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 16, in Winona Lake Limitless Park. Proceeds from the race benefitted Fear is a Liar Ministries, which was established in honor of Payton Slaymaker. Payton passed away at the age of 10 on April 21 of this year after losing her battle with a rare brain cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).

Police: 4-year-old repeatedly beaten, locked in basement before being killed by father

HAMLET, Ind. (WISH) — A 4-year-old boy covered in bruises and marks was found dead on Monday at a residence in northern Indiana, police said. Just before 3 a.m. Monday, La Porte County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3100 block of East 875 South in Hamlet on reports of a child battered by his father. Reports also claimed that there were other children in the home.

Elkhart Model Railroad Club Train Show happening today

Hundreds of model train enthusiasts will be in Nappanee for the 16th annual Elkhart Model Railroad Club Train Show. The Safe Haven Baby Box has been installed at the Plymouth Fire Department. Under the state’s Safe Haven Law, a Safe Haven Baby Box legally permits a mother in crisis to safely, securely, and anonymously surrender a newborn if she is unable to care for the child. The mother can utilize the Safe Haven Baby Box at the Plymouth Fire Department by opening a door on an exterior wall. It automatically locks upon placement of a newborn inside the Baby Box. An interior door allows a medical staff member to tend to the child upon an alarm notification two minutes following the surrender.

Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday for Reed & Shuttz PC, 221 N. Washington St., Warsaw. Traci Shuttz said the law firm opened Feb. 14. She said both her and law partner Blake Reed’s families have been coming to the area since the late 1990s. Their families were friends and the two kind of grew up together. Shuttz’s parents permanently moved to the area, so she followed them. Shuttz and Reed thought it was a good time to see what they could do as far as a law practice, Shuttz said.
